Democracy: voting is a must-have not a nice-to-have

Dear Reader

I’m writing on the eve of the most important event for democracy in modern history in this country. My point is simple: please vote on Thursday. Of course I’d like it if you voted the same way I feel but I’m not going to politicise the point: voting is a necessity in a democracy . You must make your voice heard: people have fought and died to give you that right so the right becomes a responsibility. You cannot fail to be interested in the outcome: it will affect you either way. You cannot stand on the sidelines then complain if the vote goes against your opinion.
